The Truth About Sound Healing
- The Real Diamond King

My first sound bath experience was back in 2012 in a local metaphysical bookstore. I had no idea I was attending a sound bath and didn't even know the definition of what it was that I was experiencing, but what I do know was as soon as the frequencies started to move in and out of my bio-field a sort of magic began to unfold within me. Everything returned to a quiet place, and all doubt and worry left my body and I felt God in a different way than I ever had. I felt pure love and ease and without knowing exactly what it was that I experienced I still knew that it wasn't bad or evil.

Over the years, ever since that day I have made it my mission to study sound frequencies and vibration. Not in just the esoteric sense but also scientifically so others are aware of what it is they are receiving and experiencing whenever they lay down in front of a quartz crystal bowl.

So what is a Sound bath?
A sound bath is guided rest for your nervous system using sound frequencies.
That's it.
I have seen over the years where sound baths have become increasingly popular, yet they are often misunderstood. Many people form strong opinions about sound healing without ever experiencing it, sometimes labeling it as unsafe, religious, or supernatural. This blog is intended to clarify what a sound bath actually is, what it is not, what is happening scientifically, and what someone may experience emotionally or physically.
You lay down or sit comfortably while instruments like crystal singing bowls, gongs, chimes, tuning forks, or even the human voice create steady vibrations. Those vibrations travel through the air and your body and because your body is mostly water this can encourage your brain and nervous system shift into a calmer, more regulated state. There's no beliefs required to attend, experience or witness a sound bath. Understanding the process can remove unnecessary fear + misinformation. I always tell my clients it is the most passive healing modality because you just show up and receive the vibrations. You don't actually have to believe in anything for it to work. The same way you don't have to believe in Wi-Fi for your phone to connect. I have even given sound baths to individuals that didnt lay down or close their eyes, they watched me the whole time as if they were watching a concert. Which is fine, because their body is still receiving the frequencies.
The purpose of a sound bath is rest and regulation, not belief, worship or mental control. It does not require any meditation experience, spiritual openess, or participation beyond listening.

What a Sound bath is Not
Because of the misunderstanding around sound healing, it is very important that I am clear about what it does not involve. A sound bath is not a religious practice, a form of worship, a ritual or spell, nor does it have the ability to altar your already established belief system. It does not remove free will and it is definitely not a gateway to supernatural or external forces. Participants remain fully conscious and in control at all times. A participant will move in and out of different brainwaves that will induce relaxation but in no way shape or form is this modality a form of hypnosis or mind control. You can move, sit up, or leave whenever you choose. There is no expectation to think, feel or believe anything specific.

What is happening scientifically
From a scientific perspective, sound baths work through the nervous system and the brain’s natural response to sound and vibration. The human brain operates through electrical activity known as brainwaves:
• Beta waves are associated with alertness, problem solving, and stress
• Alpha waves relate to calm focus and creativity
• Theta waves are linked to deep relaxation and emotional processing
• Delta waves occur during deep rest and sleep
So, certain sound frequencies and rhythmic patterns can gently encourage the brain to shift from high alert beta states into alpha or theta states. This process is known as brainwave entrainment, and it has been studied in neuroscience, psychology, and music therapy for decades.
Soundbaths also influence the autonomic nervous system, which has two primary branches:
• Sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight)
• Parasympathetic nervous system (rest, digest, and repair)
So, something to recogonize is that modern life often keeps us locked in a chronic stress response. Sound based relaxation helps activate the parasympathetic system, signaling safety to the body. This can result in reduced stress hormones, slower heart rate, deeper breathing, and muscle relaxation.

The Role of Technology and Silicon Valley
An often overlooked fact is that sound based nervous system regulation gained mainstream traction through technology and corporate environments, not spirituality. I know, I know thats not what people want to hear but it is part of the history of pure tone quartz crystal bowls.
Sound healing didn’t get popular because of spirituality. It got popular because tech companies started using it. Another lesser known fact is that Silicon Valley accidentally discovered while making computer chips with quartz crystals that they resonated at a very angelic frequency.
From that discovery someone decided to design Tibetan like bowls out of Quartz Crystal.
Super cool, right? Now, dont get me wrong sound healing has been used tribally and culturally throughout history way before the first computer was invented but as far as pure tone quartz crystal bowls are concerned, that is a very recent, modern sound healing modality.

Silicon Valley companies like Google, Apple, Meta, Salesforce have been investing in meditation rooms, sound therapy, breathwork, and nervous system regulation for YEARS. Why?
Because burned out engineers don’t innovate well. They are not as productive and that productivity can effect the very company they work for.
They learned that regulated nervous systems equals better focus, creativity, productivity, and emotional intelligence. So they brought in sound therapy, mindfulness, and frequency based relaxation tools to support their workers.
But this is the part that I find to be so wild
People trust the phone in their pocket, the Bluetooth in their ears, the Wi-Fi in their house, and the TV blasting frequencies all day but suddenly a singing bowl is dangerous!
This raises an important question:
Why do we trust the technology in our pockets, on our walls, and in our ears but question tools designed to calm the nervous system?
Smartphones, televisions, Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth devices, and computers all operate using frequencies. These technologies are widely accepted despite their constant stimulation of the brain and nervous system. Sound healing tools, by contrast, are often criticized, even though they are designed to reduce overstimulation, not increase it.

Frequencies Are Already Running Your Life
Let’s be keep it real for a moment.
Our phones emits frequencies, our Wi-Fi router emits frequencies, our TV emits frequencies, our bluetooth emits frequencies, and our radio waves emit frequencies
None of that gets demonized, yet most of it overstimulates your nervous system.
Soundbaths do the opposite. They slow things down and calm and regulate you.
So the real question isn't, why trust sound healing?
The question is why we trust overstimulation more than regulation.

What to Expect During or After a Soundbath
Every person responds differently, and there is no correct experience. We are all different and going through varied things in our day to day life so our experiences will be very diverse. In the last 8 years, I have witnessed and also been told different things from participants that frequent my sound baths, and its quite intriguing and beautiful what sound medicine offers to the average individual. So, naturally sound healing helps us move and release emotions that are stored in the body.
Mentally, sound can assist with repetitive thoughts, mental chatter and an overactive mind.
Participants quite often feel mental ease and stillness and have even advised that physical ailments such as headaches or migranes are relieved quickly.
Emotionally, some people may experience deep relaxation,
a sense of calm or coherence, emotional release, heightened awareness or no noticeable emotional response at all.
Physically, some people may notice gentle tingling or warmth maybe even feel heaviness or lightness, muscle relaxation, slower breathing, body temperature may drop or rise and sleepiness or deep rest may occur. Some individuals may require more bathroom breaks, or may experience other physical signs of release and nervous system regulation such as, coughs, sneezes or even yawns.
Spiritually, an individual may experience forgiveness for self, they feel more connected to a Higher Power, or may visualize different colors or access different memories.
These responses are signs of the nervous system shifting out of chronic stress. They are not indications of external influence or loss of control. But that person surrendering and returning back to their natural state of being.

Addressing Fear and Misinformation
I am a firm believer that fear often arises from unfamiliarity. When sound healing is grouped with practices it does not belong to, misconceptions spread easily.
Sound baths do not ask participants to adopt beliefs, abandon religion, or surrender control. They simply offer a structured environment for the body and brain to experience rest ; something increasingly rare in a over stimulating
world.
It is worth questioning why calming, non invasive practices are scrutinized more harshly than the constant noise, stress, and digital exposure that dominate modern life.
Sound baths may not be for everyone but understanding them accurately allows people to make informed decisions rather than fear based judgments.
